in a situation where a plug colder than #6 was not needed, have you seen any difference in power between the iridium and the OEM plug? I agree, in a situation where a colder plug is needed, the iridium is the only option. However, in a situation where the colder plug is not needed, I think the extra shrouding of the plug tip with the shorter plug will cost some power, or at least require a touch more timing to get the same result. This is why I removed my spark plug nub, so that I would have more plug options without any possible plug tip shrouding.
